Around the square are a number of bars, restaurants and tapas bars which remain ever popular. The village shops cater for the majority of your needs with bakers, butchers, fishmonger, mini markets, beauty salons, banks etc.

From Palomares you can visit other areas such as Mojacar, Garrucha, Villaricos, Vera and Cuevas with relative ease. A local bus route connects many of the local towns. The area is also serviced by two major motorways, a toll road links the area with Murcia (San Javier) airport and the second connects the area with both Almeria and Alicante airport.

The village remains typically Spanish with the majority of homes in the centre of the village being Spanish owned. This coupled with the fact that there are a number of other nationalities living here permanently ensures a stable population and makes it a place to visit throughout the year. The best months for sunny weather are from early spring through to late autumn and the winter months can be surprisingly warm and sunny.

The local beach is well maintained and is a favorite with fishermen. There you will find a beach bar and chill out bar which are open for the summer months. Other activities in the area include boat trips, horse riding, water sports, golf etc. The renowned Desert Springs Golf Resort is only a few minutes drive away.

It is possible to drive to Granada within two and half hours giving you access to the ski slopes over the winter months.

But what for the future? The high speed rail link is now under construction which will link the area with Madrid. In addition the new Paramount Studios are now under construction and being less than an hour away will allow people to visit the Studios whilst having a beach holiday. Both these benefits, coupled with the existing infrastructure, must make buying in the area a good investment especially with current bargain prices.
